Spring has officially sprung (thank goodness!), and the walkability of Woodstock can be enjoyed by all. Woodstock and Cherokee County have some of the best spring festivals and events. Here are a few to mark on your calendar to make sure you don’t miss!
Taste of Woodstock – On Thursday, April 25th, The Taste of WDSTK returns! This annual event will be celebrating the 9th iteration at the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village Event Green located in the heart of Downtown Woodstock. From 5:00-9:00pm, Woodstock area restaurants will serve up delicious tastes of their best dishes to compete in a variety of categories. Admission is free, and tickets cost $0.50 each, with packages starting at $5.
Make dinner a breeze and sample some of the best dishes available in Woodstock knowing that you’re benefiting the Woodstock High School Band program!
TrailFest – May the Fourth (of May) be With You! On Saturday, May 4th (Also heavily celebrated as Star Wars Day), Downtown Woodstock will be hosting TrailFest, an event celebrating its 10th year bringing a community party to celebrate outdoor adventures. Proceeds for TrailFest will benefit Greenprints Alliance, an organization whose goal is to advocate for sustainable greenspace and trail networks to enhance the City of Woodstock’s community, natural and economic resources.
TrailFest will offer live music, an array of food trucks, outdoor activities, and more. And best of all, the event is free!
Bacon and Banjos – On Saturday, May 18th, you can “Do a Jig and Eat Some Pig!” at the Bacon and Banjos Festival! Starting at 11:00am and running through 6:00pm, Bacon & Banjos promises to be a convergence of the salty goodness of bacon and the down-home sounds of bluegrass music! A portion of the funds will benefit the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation, so you can feel good about what you eat and the music you enjoy!
Bluegrass music will be on the main stage all day, including local bluegrass favorites such as Cedar Hill, The Dixie Jubilee, Honeywood and The Wiseman Brothers with Iron Horse out of Killen, Alabama and the Songs from the Road Band, hailing from Asheville, North Carolina. If you fancy yourself a bluegrass musician, folks from Cherokee Music Center will host a Picker’s Pavilion in the gazebo. You can bring an instrument or your own voice and join on in!
Throughout the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater will be a bacon-centered food festival with restaurants and vendors selling their best bacon creations. Judges will determine the best of the best, but you can sample them all!
These are just a small sample of the rich culture available in Woodstock and Cherokee County. With plenty of restaurants, live music and events, there’s no shortage of ways to just live better!
