Fall has finally arrived in Woodstock, Georgia, and with the cool weather, we’re starting to prepare for the warmth and happiness of welcoming our friends and family for Thanksgiving. Whether you’re hosting two or twenty-two guests, we at Rezide want to offer a few of our favorite tips for making guests feel at home.
Spruce up your main entertaining space
If you live in a Rezide home, the open floor plan and abundant natural light already create an immediately welcoming environment! One of the joys of new construction, too, is that you don’t have anything on that Fall pre-guest fix-it list – your air and heating, fireplace, and appliances should all be good to go. So, you’re free to focus on the décor!
While our expertise is building homes here at Rezide, we do have a few favorite ways to show-off entertainment spaces and gathering areas to make them look their best.
- There’s nothing that says Thanksgiving more than an inviting table. We like to plan ahead with a couple centerpieces and a table runner or table cloth to bring in some Fall colors and warmth.
- Have a door to your courtyard, garage, or front entrance that leads to your main entertainment area? Add a wreath! Wreaths are great seasonal decorations that can be welcoming both in and outdoors.
- Put out some pre-dinner snacks. Show-off your beautiful countertops and take advantage of your big island and counter-seating to set out a few pre-turkey munchies for your guests. Bonus if it gets them in the kitchen pitching in on last minute food prep!
Prep the guest room
Thanksgiving often means having guests both for dinner and overnight. Plan ahead to have your guest room looking its best! Of course, you’ll want to change the sheets and do a quick dusting, but consider also adding an extra blanket, too. You’ll also want to consider any mobility issues your guests might have. If you’re fortunate enough to have a master-on-main floor plan—like both our Westown development in Woodstock and the Villages at Creekstone in Cumming—you have some extra flexibility to accommodate your guests.
Plan a few after-turkey activities
If your guests are visiting from out of town, it’s always nice to have a few activities planned to show-off the great place you live. Woodstock is home to some beautiful parks — an after-dinner stroll at Old Rope Mill along Little River is a great way to get back up and moving. And on Small Business Saturday, if your guests are still around, downtown Woodstock has some fantastic boutique shopping—from clothes to home goods to specialty foods—here’s something for everyone.
And if your guests just love Woodstock and don’t want to leave (and really, who could blame them?), we’d love to show-off our newest Rezide Properties home sites at Westown off Rope Mill Road! We offer master on main floor plans, two and four car garages, and beautiful entertainment spaces with open layouts – all perfectly walkable to downtown Woodstock! Check out our website to learn more.
