The holiday season is upon us, and Woodstock is a city that loves to celebrate! From parades to theater performances, Woodstock’s big city talent and small town feel are both on full display throughout the month of December. Because 2020 is the year of mixing it up and creatively adapting, some of the usual celebrations have been reimagined or tweaked so that we can all continue to enjoy the holiday festivities. So, if you’re walking from one of our city homes or condos, bundle up and enjoy the fun – we hope to see you there!
Christmas Jubilee 2020 – River Ridge High School and Mill Creek Middle School Parking Lots
Kick off the holiday season on Saturday, December 5th with Woodstock’s annual Christmas Jubilee!
Traditionally, the Parade of Lights winds through downtown along Main Street, but the city is mixing things up a little this year and hosting a Reverse Drive-Thru Parade of Lights. You can drive through any time between 5:30 and 8:30pm to enjoy the many lit up floats and displays from the comfort of your own vehicle. Rumor has it there will be a special surprise at the end of the parade, and we’re crossing our fingers it’s a visit from a certain jolly elf (although you didn’t hear it from us – we want to stay on the nice list!).
Holiday Sip + Shop – Downtown Woodstock
On December 10th from 6-9pm, join us downtown for a Holiday Sip + Shop! Some of our favorite retailers will have special deals and light refreshments as you shop for the perfect gift for each person on your list. Stop by the Visitor’s Center at Dean’s Store (8588 Main Street) to get your ticket and tote and a directory of participating shops. Festive and unique holiday shopping just steps from your door? This event is hard to say no to!
A Christmas Carol – Elm Street Event Green
Woodstock boasts an impressive arts scene, and it never disappoints! From December 18th through the 24th, catch a show of the classic holiday tradition right in the heart of downtown. Elm Street Cultural Arts Village usually hosts the show in its theater, but going along with the theme of 2020 and adapting, the show will be hosted outside this year on the Elm Street Green!
Friday night’s performance will be at 7:30pm, and additional shows throughout the week will begin at 2:30pm. Grab a thermos of hot chocolate (or a more adult holiday beverage – we don’t judge!), and take a short walk to the Green to enjoy this holiday tradition.
At Rezide Properties, we love being a part of a city that has long-standing holiday traditions and building new homes that allow our buyers to upgrade their lifestyle and immerse themselves in this town. From all of us at Rezide, happy holidays (and don’t forget to drop off your letter to Santa in the box by the Gazebo at the Park at City Center)!
