There is nothing more special than that first holiday season after moving into a new home. It’s a blank canvas ready for holiday cheer and sweet new memories. As your new home was being built, perhaps you thought, “Oh! That’s going to be the perfect spot for our Christmas tree.” Or perhaps you’re just beginning to make some of those decisions now.
As you unpack last year’s decorations (and prepare to add a few new ones!), there are so many small details that can take your holiday décor up a notch. With the cooler weather, we’ll be spending more time indoors at home, so we’d love for things to really sparkle. Here are a few of our favorite decorating tips to up that warm and cozy feel around your house this holiday season.
Add holiday pieces throughout your home
It’s tempting to decorate the entryway and the living room and call it done. But adding small touches in each room of your home will carry the theme through and give you that holiday feeling as you move throughout your day.
Include some greenery
Plants and greenery make for a classic look, and this time of year, it’s so easy to do! Many of us will put up a tree but consider taking it a step farther. Wrap banisters in garland or drape it across your mantle and add a wreath to your door to really elevate the look.
Tiny touches matter
In an open concept home (which we at Rezide love to build!) your kitchen should be a part of the holiday cheer, too! A plate of fresh cookies can add so much to that warm holiday feel! And over in the living room, don’t forget that wrapped presents are part of the décor, too.
When it comes to the holidays, scents can conjure up more warm, cozy feelings than almost any other detail. Think fresh pine needles, cinnamon cider, and warm cloves and oranges.
Decorate outside, too
You’ve heard us talk about it before: At Rezide Properties, we’re big fans of indoor/outdoor living. Carry your theme not only throughout your home, but out to your front entryway and patio, too! Enjoy a festive greeting each time you come home or even a nice night on the patio with blankets and warm drinks.
At Rezide Properties, we’re proud of the new homes we build, and we want our homeowners to enjoy them in each season throughout the year. We’re currently building luxury townhomes in the heart of downtown Woodstock and a variety of new home styles at Lake Arrowhead in Waleska, GA for buyers looking for resort-style living. If you’re hoping to celebrate the holidays next year in a brand-new home of your own, give us a call at 404-448-2005.
