The weather is warming up, you can hear the birds chirping in the mornings, and you have that undeniable urge to clean and brighten up your house – Spring has arrived! When it comes to deep cleaning our homes, we all know about mopping floors and washing windows, but there are a few smaller tasks that we sometimes overlook.

Tips from your Local Homebuilder to Keep Your New Home Looking its Best

As new construction home building experts, we take great pride in each home we build! We want to help you keep your investment looking its best, so from our team, here are a few Spring Cleaning tasks you don’t want to forget.

Hose off your doormats

When guests come to visit (and let’s be honest, with a house like yours, of course you’re entertaining!), your welcome mat is the first thing they’ll see when they get to the door. We walk past our mats so many times a day, it’s easy to overlook the wear and tear they’re taking. Hosing off and shaking out doormats will instantly make your front door look that much more welcoming.

Clean cutting boards and reusable grocery bags

The kitchen is the heart of your home, and (especially if you have one of Rezide’s beautiful and functional open floor plans) the room in which you’re likely spending the most time. We all know to wipe down countertops and appliances, but what about those small everyday items? Give your cutting boards a deep clean with either a white vinegar solution or a scrub with lemon and salt to remove any stains. And don’t forget to throw those reusable grocery bags in the wash (or scrub them down with some soapy water, depending on the care instruction) – carrying produce is dirty work.

Fluff curtains and throw pillows

Window treatments and throw pillows add color and softness to a room and are a perfect place for an easy Spring refresh. Toss curtains in the dryer on air only for about 15 minutes and hang them up right away (to avoid any wrinkles). For throw pillows, vacuum them regularly, and if you’re game for a little easy seasonal room transformation, swap out pillow covers for a whole new clean and bright look.

Wipe down electronics

At a time where we’re all a little more alert to germs and keeping things clean, you’re probably already doing this regularly. If you’re not, though, here’s a reminder to use disinfecting wipes to wipe down some of those high touch surfaces such as your phone, remote controls, and light switches (and of course doorknobs and drawer pulls, too).

Clean up patio furniture

We’ve saved the best for last! Spring means more time taking complete advantage of your outdoor living spaces (and at Rezide, we build homes that capitalize on outdoor spaces because just live better means blending in- and outdoor living!). Uncover, hose down, and wipe off that outdoor furniture because in Georgia, this is one of the best seasons to sit on your porch, visit with friends, and just enjoy being right where you are.
