Are you decking the halls yet? Many folks officially ring in the holiday season the week of Thanksgiving, and Downtown Woodstock isn’t short on things to do. Here are just a few events that are going on within the next few weeks.  What to do in downtown Woodstock

Downtown Woodstock Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights

Kick off the holiday season in Downtown Woodstock with the 22nd Annual Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights!

On Saturday, December 1st, start the day at Elm Street Theater’s free performance of A Christmas Carol and stay afterward for the parade right outside the theater! The city is encouraging residents to bring a can of chili, stew, chunky soup, peanut butter, or monetary donations as your ticket to benefit Papa’s Pantry. At 4:30pm, stop by the park and have dinner with an array of food vendors, or grab some food to go, either from the vendors or any of the restaurants in Downtown Woodstock, and secure your seat for the parade early.

The Parade kicks off at 5:30pm, starting at Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road, traveling down Main Street to Sam’s Club at Highway 92. The parade features tons of lights, and everyone’s favorite holiday figure, Santa Claus! It will take place rain or shine, unless there’s truly inclement weather. (And stay tuned on their website and social media pages if such a change exists.)

After the parade, the festivities continue, including visits with Santa, the Official Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa and the Mayor, awards for parade floats, free kids crafts areas, a moonwalk and other inflatables, a DJ complete with holiday food and vendors before, during and after the parade, and more. Visit the Woodstock Parks and Recreation website for even more information.

A Christmas Carol Performances at Elm Street Cultural Arts Center

From December 7th-24th, catch a show of the classic holiday tradition at Elm Street Cultural Arts Center. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30pm, with Sunday and Monday afternoon shows at 2:30pm. Each showing will have pre-show Christmas music, with live music performed by invited guests, including River Ridge High School, Dixie Jubilee, Victoria Hill, Levi Ransom, and more. The cast will have a special Opening Night Reception on the 7th, allowing guests to stick around afterwards for drinks & hors d’oeuvres with the cast as they toast the run of their holiday classic. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit their website.

Drop Letters in Santa’s Mailbox at The Park at City Center

A special treat for kids: have them drop off their letters to Santa in the North Pole Mailbox! The mailbox in the gazebo at The Park at City Center will deliver letters directly to Santa starting December 1st through the 16th. (Since Santa needs plenty of time to sort through them!)

Just before Christmas, any letter submitted in the mailbox will get a personalized letter back from Santa! (Just make sure to include a return address!)

These are just a handful of events happening in Downtown Woodstock during the month of December. Whether you’re right in the heart of downtown, or just outside the city limits, Woodstock has plenty to offer. If you’re visiting family and friends this holiday season, come see why our city was named “One of the Top 50 Places to Live in the U.S.” For us and the other residents, here, we just live better.

Happy Holidays from the Rezide Properties team!
